I work in the field of installation, sculpture, photography, video and public intervention. Many of my works are based on a sustained involvement with the environment of the gallery or any given public space. By adding a specific comment to a ‘space’, works are integrated within it, creating a new or different meaning to habitual perceptions. My work always responds to the existing situation by consciously ‘borrowing’ elements from existing spaces to construct new works which are then re-immersed in the same space. In recent years I have been trying to penetrate the subject in different ways by constructing works in smaller or larger degrees of scale based on tautological action. ‘Cutting out’ and ‘strengthening’ fragments of space, my aim is to challenge the way we look at everyday objects by generating new meanings, references and suggestions. Most of the works are therefore site-specific and seek to energize a space (indoor or outdoor), or a social or political situation, by making these spaces a key element of the viewer’s experience. In my creative experiments I am aspiring for maximum semantic and formal integration with reference to the character of the place in which I happen to be working. Each time, in a new situation, I am trying to find a foothold, some story, connecting my work with the place of its fabrication in given conditions. I believe that binding work with its territory and its formation, gives it additional force of impact. My assumptions are based on the belief that my work must be linked with the surrounding reality. I attempt to connect my works with cultural, social or structural surroundings which are always an inspiration for me on the artistic and philosophical level.
My works of art have been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions including the Museum of Modern Art in Haifa, Zacheta – National Gallery in Warsaw, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo - Santiago in Chile, Kunspunkt Gallery in Berlin, Gale Gates Gallery in New York, Wschodnia Gallery in Lodz.
